Val-Tex, a wholly-owned subsidiary of KMG, is a preferred provider of high quality, cost-effective valve lubricants primarily to the oil and gas storage, pipeline and gas distribution markets. Val-Tex manufactures and distributes industrial sealants and lubricants, as well as related products, such as lubrication equipment and fittings. Val-Tex serves the global valve maintenance market with value-added specialty products that enable optimal valve operation and help prevent costly, unscheduled downtime at customer facilities and pipelines. In addition, Val-Tex’s products provide important safety benefits along with preventing fugitive valve emissions.

Founded in 1962, Val-Tex was a valve repair and modification shop; valve maintenance products manufacturing ; and field services. Val-Tex continued with this model until 1974 when it changed business strategy and focused solely on valve maintenance products. Armed with its years of field experience, Val-Tex aimed to fill the need of a reliable partner to major valve manufacturers. Still today, Val-Tex helps train our valve manufacturing partners on key aspects of field maintenance, solutions to common operational challenges and products that are engineered to overcome those pitfalls.

Some examples of innovative solutions include:

• Premium lube sealants that have become the standard in high pressure, severe service fracking and flowback operations. Val-Tex 972 and 80-HM lube sealants are the most recommended and used products for this application, worldwide. Shortly after the Deepwater Horizon catastrophe, Val-Tex invented a product named 1502 to help overcome low pressure leakage in metal seated fracking plug valves to help with the recovery efforts and a new focus on API testing standards.


• After the San Bruno incident in California, PG&E focused attention on Preventative Valve Maintenance standards and procedures which lead to Val-Tex offering GGS for better protection of worm gear bearings and associated parts. This technology has helped countless customers with bearings overcome failures due to wide temperature swings, water egress and corrosion.


• The largest cost component of valve maintenance is labor. This understanding drove Val-Tex to engineer the family of Quick Stick (QS-Series) high pressure injection guns which replace the old manual handheld grease gun Val-Tex offers. The QS-Series are the most efficient, mobile and yet rugged grease guns in the industry. Each design fulfills a different need based upon field conditions and circumstances.
